Background

For more than three decades, Don was an independent direct-response advertising copywriter and consultant. The promotions he wrote generated massive sales and profits for his clients. He may be best known for his campaign for recorded language lessons, headlined “Speak Spanish [French, German, etc.] Like a Diplomat!” The ads became ubiquitous and achieved the status of an industry classic.


From the beginning, Don had the idea of applying the principles of the successful product marketing he practiced to humans and their career goals, especially professional and creative services. To that end, he created and presented a seminar he called “Self-Promotion for the Self-Employed.” And his e-book, The Versatile Freelancer: Share What You Know—and Get Paid for It!, teaches its readers how to generate multiple streams of income by diversifying into public speaking, training, consulting, and critiquing, among other profitable sidelines.


He has written extensively on copywriting and marketing strategies, and spoken on these subjects at numerous conferences and seminars, both in the U.S. and abroad.
